Itulah tagline dari film The Matrix Revolution yg baru2 ini gw tonton di trans tv. Guess what? It turns out bahwa itulah the lesson of life yg sekarang ini harus gw hadapi.
The last few days have been quite emotional for me dan baru aja mencapai klimaksnya hari ini: mas Kardi meninggal. First, mari doakan supaya arwahnya diterima di sisi Allah and may he finally go with the light of Islam. Amin.
Mas Kardi itu, what I think describes him best, is a long-time family friend. He's been a good friend to almost all of Salim (my mom's) families. In short, he is like a Salim himself.
For me, death is the best way to learn how to live. It reminds me of just how vulnerable we are. More often than not, we tend to forget the fact that we could die anytime, at any second. It's true. Many people are living their lives with too much stress and unnecessary concerns about everyday life. Consequently, they put off the things that are closest to their heart and matters the most. That's why sometimes people choose job over passion, money over love, social status over friends. They forget that we have so little time in this life, and you know what? We can never tell how much time we've got left.
So, everything that has a beginning has an end. It is the lesson I'm facing, because the time has come to end my wonderful high school journey. It was one heck of a ride, not to be forgotten at all. What upsets me the most is the time has also come for me to part with my best friends.
This is where I'm trying to gain new perspectives. Everything that has a beginning has end? Maybe the saying is incomplete. Surely, our friendship does not end here.
The more appropriate term would be our friendship 'as a school student' ends here. But that only means, our friendship as an adult, our friendship in our 'advanced' life, or (my favorite term) our life-long friendship, had only just begun.
So, worry not dear friends! Everything that has a beginning has an end, but everything that has an end (certainly) has a beginning.

Turning 18

Hello there, mates! FINALLY I'm back to my writing. Guess what? I'm 18 today, woohoo! Normally, I would freak out because I'm a year older, or in other words, I'm one year closer to my death. But not this time! This time, I have decided to make myself resolutions. Considering the fact that this is the time to figure out what we want to do with our lives after high school, I couldn't have picked a better timing. Here it goes.
Generally, I am so grateful for everything God has given me because every year I can say, "this year was the best year!". I am not one of those people who'll say "high school is the best years" because I believe we can make every single year better.
I am very blessed, that's why I feel like I have an obligation to do something great in return. That 'something great' is no longer about getting the best grades, nor it is about getting the best jobs that comes with high social status and big money. As previously stated in this blog, I choose my 'something great' is about being able to help people improve their lives in any aspect I can help them with. As of today, THAT is my dream.
So, in the nutshell, that is my resolution. Changing the definition of 'success' in my dictionary. Okay how about this. I'm gonna make a promise to myself and you're going to help me keep it by simply reading it. No matter which path I choose, I am going to do great things and I am going to turn that dream of mine into a reality.
